To introduce and practice Present Perfect for life experiences (positive and negative)
To provide product writing practice of a past present verb tense in the context of life experiences.
Procedure (38-47 minutes)
I will show Ss pictures of actors/singers from the past and the present. I will ask Ss to identify the famous pictures and talk about how they know the person in the pictures. "Have you seen them in a movie?" "What is a movie you know with them" "What is your favorite song from this singer" "Who is your favorite singer/actor"
I will introduce the text to Ss 1)I will show Ss questions. 2)I will ask if there are any questions about the questions 3)Ss will have 2 minutes to read the text 4) Ss will complete a T/F activity where they will skim the text and answer prepared questions. 5) I will model first question. 6) At end of time I will share answers on the board, Ss will check answers.
I have created a worksheet that gaps the TL from the text and I will share it with the Ss I will give an example and illicit a response from Ss I will have Ss identify the correct gaps from 3 sentences.
I will explain the concept of Present Perfect Tense: "Uses the word Have or Has plus the past participle." I will share slides with examples of regular and irregular verbs along with the Has/Have combination and have students drill for pronunciation.
I will show questions on the screen. I will ask if there are any questions about the questions. Students read about Suzie Kennedy and fill in the gaps with the correct verb forms. I will model first question. Students check answers in BOR. I will share answers with the class. Ss will write 2 true sentences and one false sentences about their life experiences. They will use the Present Perfect. I will model clearly by offering 2 truths and a lie on the screen In break out rooms they will take turns to reading their sentences. Partners will guess with sentences are true or false. Partners will ask follow-up questions about the true sentences. In OCFB I will have students tell the class about one of their partner’s true experiences. DEC.
