In this lesson, the students learn about nationality, countries, cities and languages. they are provided with some country names and they will learn how to ask about people's nationality, language, country and city.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of countries and cities in the context of nationality

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation/ Q and A in the context of nationality/ countries


Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask the students if they know someone who lives in another country.

Test #1 (10-15 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

I will involve the students in a process of making the questions and sentences below: Where is/are she/he/you/they/... from? The yes/no question of the above He/she/they/... is/are from.... Negative form of the above

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

After clarifying the parts the students have problem understanding I will explain them and then I will teach them about nationality and how it is different from country name and also cities and questions regarding them. They will also learn the question : where do you come from? And they will learn about languages and mother tongue.

Test #2 (10-15 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

I will repeat the process that took place in test 1 adding the new information.

Free practice (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

They will talk about different countries, their nationalities, their languages and their cities.
