Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson students will have practice of writing a short email (45-50 words) inviting friends (in another country) to visit you.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Learners will have also practice editing for spelling, punctuation, proofreading. Learners will have also practised how we organise and review ideas, how these are expressed in an appropriate style.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- The teacher displays images on screen related to the context of friends abroad. - The teacher elicits a few ideas from learners. - The teacher asks: Would you like to invite a friend living in another country to visit you in México? Which places would you like to show in México? - The teacher conducts OCFB.

Analysis of Layout/Content (8-10 minutes) • To explain the layout of a letter and the content of each part of it to complete the tasks.

Students have to label the text because they need to make aware of the layout and content. The teacher will show in Jamboard the initial email written to Mariana, who lives in Colombia, inviting her and her child to visit my house in Caracas. The teacher will display the different parts of a letter, and students should match these parts on the correct layout of the letter shown.

Productive task. Write according to task rubric (18-20 minutes) • To write a letter and to practice with the layout explained.
