Main Aims

  • To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about celebrities in the context of Chef Jamie Kennedy


Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show Ss 4 famous chefs and ask them if they know who they are or why they are celebrities. Gordon Ramsey Emeril Lagasse Enrique Olvera Jamey Kennedy I will encourage dialog from Ss with RST and limiting TTT. Main scripted instructions, delivered as needed throughout stage. "Please look at the following pictures. Do you recognize these people? What do you know about them? Do you know of other celebrity chefs? Do you have a favorite chef and why?"

Pre-Reading/Listening (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Pre teach vocab: Celebrity Recipe Campaign Ingredients I will introduce matching activity and do first matching with them. I will illicit participation by asking Ss to complete the matching by volunteering answers. Following the matching activity I will explain MFP in individualized sides I have prepared.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Tell students they will hear an audio clip and they need to listen to specific information. Link Students to Google Forms in chat box. Students will work independently in main room as we listen to the text together. When finished, students will check answers in pairs for final 2 minutes. I will go over answers with class.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students will listen a second time in main group. I will share questions in chat box and ask students if they have any questions about the questions. Students will work independently to answer detail questions from Google Form during the audio. I will answer the first question for the group to model how to complete exercise. Audio will be repeated, as necessary. Students will check answers in BOR Answers will be shared with class after BOR via answer key shown on screen. Students will be instructed to check their own answers and share their results.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Have learners respond to contents of the text in BOR discussions: <I WILL ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS TO MODEL THE DIALOG BEFORE I PUT THEM IN BOR> Do you watch cooking shows? What is your favorite cooking show? What is the most popular cooking show in Mexico? Do you have a favorite chef? What kind of food is your favorite? Bring back students for error correction and feedback.
