Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, ss will have practised speaking in the context of someone you admire.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist listening in the context of someone you admire.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- I will present photos of famous people 2- I will ask ss to get into breakout rooms to discuss about the people in the photps. 3- when ss get out, I will ask about the peers' opinion.

Pre-teach (4-6 minutes) • to clarify the meaning of new words.

1- I will present the new vocabulary * imprison *made speech * trial *civil engineer * made redundant * retrain

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Page 42 exercise b 1- I will ask ss to listen to two people talking about someone they admire. 2- I will as ss to take notes of each character 3- I will get ss into breakout rooms to discuss 4* when ss get out , I will give them feedback.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Page 42 1- I will ask ss to read the useful language mentioned 2- I will ask ss to think of someone he/she admires 3- I will ask ss to write down notes of that person.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

page 43 1- I will ask ss to get into breakout rooms to discuss about the characters they admire. 2- when ss get out of the rooms, I will ask about their peers' characters 3- i will ask about similarities and differences.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language
