Description

in this lesson, SS will have practiced the meaning, pronunciation, and form of vocabulary in the context of missing someone. the lesson starts with a lead-in to get the students engaged and activate their prior knowledge in relevance to the topic by showing SS a photo of a heart followed by a photo of a girl looking sad. Then teacher provides a context for the target vocabulary through listening to the song 'Just missing without lyrics. Next, the teacher clarifies the meaning, pronunciation, and form of the target language. This will be followed by some controlled practices and final free speaking practice.

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson students will have practiced the meaning, pronunciation and form of vocabulary in the context of missing someone.

Subsidiary Aims

  • 1To practice listening/for fluency and specific information 2- To practice free speaking for in the context of missing someone.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll just show a picture of a heart. Ask ss: What’s this? then I'll show a photo of a sad-looking girl. Ask SS: is she happy or sad? is she missing someone?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the vocabulary through a song and draw students' attention to the TL(vocabulary)

Tell SS they are going to listen to a song about someone missing someone.• Focus on the title (Just missing you) and tell SS when they've heard the song,•Tell them not to worry about the words they don't know as they will focus on their meaning, pronunciation, and form later when they see them in the context of the song. • Play the song.

Language Analysis (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the vocabulary in the lesson.

I'll clarify the meaning, pronunciation, and form of some words in the lesson in the context of 'missing someone'. 1- broken heart 2- photo 3- memory 4- awhile 5- laugh 6- deal with 7-reality 8- erase

Controlled Practice. (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the vocabulary.

To concept check and prepare students for more practices. Get ss to listen to the song and choose one correct answer from three options. Listen and find the mistake • Show them the answer key. Then get ss Listen to the song and find the mistake., Demo the first one with ss. then let them complete the task. Check their answers in BOR . Provide answer key.
