In this Lesson,Students will learn about the usage of the time expressions"already and yet" in the context of jobs,studies and life events.


Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice in the usage and form of the time expressions (already and yet).

Subsidiary Aims

  • To help the Ss differentiate between the different forms of already and yet in their speaking.


Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To Check Ss previous knowledge of the tense and to introduce the structure.

T Plays a video including different scenes of famous TV shows. Ss try to get as many present perfect sentences/questions as possible. T gets WCF . T revises the meaning/form/pronunciation of what the Ss have studied in their previous grammar lesson.

Language Focus (5-8 minutes) • To draw Ss attention to the difference between already and yet

T shows a picture of Spider-man and ask the students some follow-up question(e.g what is his job, who is your favorite superhero) T shows Spider-man's daily errands with a timeline. Ss try to answer some questions about what he has already accomplished and what he hasn't done yet. T gets WCFB afterwards. (T introduces the meaning and form of already and yet)

Language focus Practice (5-8 minutes) • To make sure Ss get the difference of the two forms.

T gives Ss HO of wonder woman's daily errands. Ss work in pairs, try to ask and answer some questions about what she has done and what she hasn't done according to the timeline given in the HO T monitors Ss while working in pairs. T gets WCFB

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide the Ss with more practice of the rule in a natural context.

T gives the Ss HO from the text book Ss answer ex. 1 page 70 try to fill the gaps with already and yet. Ss work individually then check with their pairs and then practice the dialogue

Semi-controlled practice (5-7 minutes) • To personalize the target language.

in Ex. 3 page 70 Ss make sentences using the prompts given. Ss work in a group of 3 to tell their peers about their information e.g -Finish my studies (i haven't finished my studies yet. i have already taken two courses) T gets WCFB

Free practice (game) (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with freer practice of the target language and to involve the whole class.

T gets the Ss to work in two teams(red team and blue team) T tells the Ss that they will see some questions of choice and they have to stand in a line. The first Student to touch the board first gives his team a point.
