Description

In this lesson, the students will learn about the school vocabulary and ask about one's place.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of places around school, in the context of around my school.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a dialogue, in the context of around my school.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. In pairs, the students will attempt to draw a map of the school. 2. They will show their maps to each other, then decide which map is more accurate.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. The students will look at the pictures and try to guess the names of the places without writing. 2. The students will share their answers/guesses with me. 3. In the process, I will provide support on the emerging language and encourage self-correction.

Useful Language (7-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

After the students have tried to guess the words, I will then start drawing their attention to the following: 1. Meaning: eliciting the meaning by asking questions and asking CCQs. 2. Pronunciation: IPA and Chorally drilling. 3. Mentioning the type of the word and drawing attention to the form.

Productive Task(s) (15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. In pairs, the students will begin picking pictures randomly from the box at this stage. 2. They will ask each other the following questions: a. Where are you? b. What are you doing? 3. The students have to provide complete answers.

Feedback and Error Correction (5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

At this stage, I'll provide feedback on fluency and accuracy.

Homework (10 minutes) • To provide extra practice of the target language.
