Making questions with the present continuous.

Description

In this lesson, the students will continue learning more about the present continuous and how to use it in the question form.

Materials

Abc Grammar in Context 3 Unit 1

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in small dialogues, in the context of activities.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of the present continuous in the context of activities.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. In pairs, the students will choose some questions from the 20 questions to interview each other. 2. The students will take turns asking and answering the questions.

Exposure (10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. The students will look at the pictures and guess what's happening in them. 2. They will have a quick discussion and share their ideas. 3. They will share their ideas with me. 4. The students will listen to the audio. 5. They will listen again then fill in the blanks. 6. We check the answers together.

Useful Language (5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

At this stage, I will expand on some of the helpful language/vocabularies that the students might not know.

Productive Task(s) (15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. In pairs, the students will choose one picture. 2. One student will ask the question, and the other will answer. 3. The students will take turns asking and answering. 4. I will provide support on the emerging language.

Feedback and Error Correction (5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I will provide feedback on fluency and accuracy.

Homework (10 minutes) • To provide extra practice of the target language.
