in this lesson, students learn functional language to benefit them in their everyday lives, with the TL being used on a daily basis. the lessons starts with a discussion about rules of politeness in the Egyptian culture, then followed by presentation of TL, and after that a controlled practice for using the TL, and lastly freer practice

  • To provide inference listening practice using a text about rules of politeness in the context of social interaction situations
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of social interaction situations

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

introduction to the concept of polite requests through examples from their own culture

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening
