Description

in this lesson, students learn functional language to benefit them in their everyday lives, with the TL being used on a daily basis. the lessons starts with a discussion about rules of politeness in the Egyptian culture, then followed by presentation of TL, and after that a controlled practice for using the TL, and lastly freer practice.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

introduction to the concept of polite requests

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through speaking and listening

Useful Language (5-6 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

highlighting and clarifying the TL, with examples from the text

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

the stage of practicing the TL through letting ss discuss together rules of politeness and create hypothetical situations with the appropriate jargon

Feedback and Error Correction (6-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

delayed feedback and error correction, with recapping the lesson
