Main Aims

  • Grammar. To give Ss some activities on making and forming informative questions

Subsidiary Aims

  • to give Ss practice in speaking for accuracy and fluency

Procedure

Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To warm up Ss and let them engaged in the topic this lesson

I'll start the class by asking the Ss some informative questions to elicit from them the topic of the lesson. For example, how many brothers do you have? Where do you live? Who lives with you? Whose cellphone is this? ....etc.

Grammar (13-15 minutes) • To focus Ss' attention on the meaning, form and pronunciation of the informative questions

I'll distribute some question to the Ss. The definitions will be on the board. They have to come to the board and match the questions to correct definition. Ss work in pairs on the questions of the definition cut-ups. Then, FB. I'll write some sentences on the board and elicit the meaning and the form from the Ss. Later on, Ss will practice pronunciation of the questions (choral, group, and individual drilling)

Practice (8-10 minutes) • To let Ss practice the informative questions

Ss work individually on coursebook ex.1 p.137. Then, in pairs, they check each other's answers. FB. Another exercise in this stage is coursebook ex 2 p 137. Ss work individually first of all. Then, in pairs, they check their questions if they are correct or not. FB

Speaking (10-12 minutes) • To let Ss produce accurate and fluent questions

Ss will be in 2 groups. Group 1 works on making questions for the given statements on p. 126. Group 2 works on making questions for the given statements on p. 133. I'll move around to give any needed help. Then, I'll make a demo; I'll choose a S from group 1 and another one from the other group. I let them ask the questions that they have already made. The answers will be already with S. Then, the two groups will be mingled to do as they have seen in the demo. Those Ss who participated in the demo will help me in monitoring the Ss' accuracy and fluency.
