Description

In this lesson, the students will continue to ask, answer and introduce themselves by learning the new five questions. They will also continue learning My Home vocabulary and using them in meaningful sentences.

Materials

Abc Handout

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a self introduction activity in the context of social interactions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of rooms in my home, in the context of around my home/house in English.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. I will first demonstrate the activity to the students. 2. In pairs, the students pick two questions from a box. 3. The students start asking and answering each other's questions. 4. I will provide support on fluency and emerging language while they are answering.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

At this stage, I will demonstrate answering the questions in the handout. 1. Read the questions, make sure you understand them. 2. answer the questions. 3. Read the questions and the answers. 4. Share some of your answers with me.

Practice and provide useful Language (5 minutes) • To practice, highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

At this stage, the students will begin practicing asking and answering the questions. 1. I will walk around to provide support on emerging language. 2. Give input and immediate correction. 3. After they finish, they will share some of their answers with me.

Productive Task(s) (10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

At this stage, the students will stand in front of the class and introduce themselves.

Teach/Practice new vocabulary (5 minutes) • To boost the student's fluency skills

1. The students read the sentences. 2. They read the words. 3. The students begin filling the blanks with the correct words. 4. They read the whole sentence. 5. Check your answers in pairs. 6. Share your answers with me.

Feedback and Error Correction (5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

At this stage, I will provide feedback on fluency and accuracy errors that I have noticed during the class.

Homework (10-15 minutes) • To provide extra practice on the target language.

Use the following words in meaningful sentences! 1. bedroom 2. balcony 3. dining room 4. guest room 5. bathroom 6. living room 7. kitchen

Differentiated Homework (10-15 minutes) • To provide extra challenging practice to higher level students.
