Description

In this lesson, the students will learn how to introduce themselves in English, ask personal questions, and answer them.

Materials

Abc Handout

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice by asking and answering personal questions in the context of self introduction/personal interactions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide process and product writing practice of a personal information in the context of self introduction/personal interactions.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. I will write three sentences about me on the board; two are true, and one is not. 2. The students will have to guess which one is not true. 3. The students will do the same in pairs. 4. After they finish, They will share some of their true and untrue sentences with me.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

At this stage I will demonstrate answering the questions in the handout. 1. Read the questions, make sure you understand them. 2. answer the questions. 3. Read the questions and the answers. 4. Share some of your answers with me.

Useful Language (10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

At this stage, the students will begin answering the questions. 1. I will walk around to provide support with the language and emerging language. 2. Give input and immediate correction. 3. After they finish, they will share some of their answers with me.

Productive Task(s) (15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

At this stage, the students will begin asking and answering each other's questions. 1. The students take turns in pairs asking and answering the questions. 2. While they do so, I will walk around the class to provide immediate feedback on fluency. 3. The students come in front of the class to introduce themselves using their answers.

Feedback and Error Correction (5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

At this stage, I will provide feedback on mainly fluence and some of the accuracy errors.

Homework (3 minutes) • To provide extra practice of the target language.

Share a video of yourself introducing yourself. The video shouldn't be more than 3 minutes.
