Description

in this lesson, students will learn about the adjectives and their usage through guided discovery, within a context of introducing the culture of the USA. the lesson will start with a simple test, then solving together some exercises, and finally another test.

Materials

Main Aims

  • the main aim is to engage students in actively thinking about adjectives' meanings, the relationships between words and adjectives that describe them, and how we can use adjectives in different situations, as well as to provide clarification of adjectives in the context of American culture.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about adjectives in the context of general sentences

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

introduction to the context

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

the first test of TTT

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

the teach phase where we go through the lesson with a lot of explanation on my part and engaging the students through exercises

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

checking understanding

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

coming up with their own sentences using adjectives of their own.
