Description

In this lesson, Ss will review the use of perfect tenses. They will hear a recording to get the TL sentences. T will explain Ss the structure of present, past and future tenses on the WB. Ss will test their knowledge answering an MFP task. Ss will produce sentences using perfect tenses with their own ideas. Finally, Ss share their ideas with their peers and with WC. T monitors and give DEC.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of perfect tenses (present, past and future) in the context of unusual and personal achievements

Subsidiary Aims

  • Provide precision when speaking in a conversation with a group of people.
  • To provide product writing at different grammar tenses to express future experiences or ideas.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T screen shares GSlides and elicit answers from Ss as an initial task: Ask Ss: What is the woman in the photo #1 doing? (She is talking to the kids). Ask Ss: Why do children have the same color of clothes? (They are probably in the school) Ask Ss: What do you think the woman's job is? (She’s a teacher or a principal) Ask Ss: Is the woman young or old? (Old) Ask Ss: Do you think she is an experienced teacher or a newbie? (experienced). Ask Ss: What is the woman in the photo #2 doing? (She is driving a car). Ask Ss: Can you tell me if she's wearing her seat belt? (No) Ask Ss: Do you think she is an experienced driver or is newbie? (We don’t know, probably unexperienced) Ask Ss: Do you think she is smiling for happiness or nervous? (We don’t know) Ask Ss: What is the man in the photo #3 doing? (He is with a remote control, probably watching TV). Ask Ss: Do you think he may be worried or calm watching TV? (He looks calm) Ask Ss: Do you think he likes to watch television? (Yes)

Text-work - intensive (7-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T shares a GForm link in the chatbox and ask Ss to listen the recording with the story of the 3 characters that were introduced in the previous activity. T advice Ss to pay attention in the grammar tenses of each story. Ss will answer individually the 3 questions related to the recording. ICQs: How long, in pairs or individually? T screen shares GSlides and explain the structures of the previous 3 sentences (TL perfect tenses). T shares a GForm link in the chatbox and give 3min to Ss individually answer the questions. Free Practice (8-9 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss will meet in pairs/groups to compare answers with their peers. Ss will be send to BORs for 5min. Ss will choose 1 sentence to share with WC. ICQs: How long, in pairs or individually? T monitors Ss for any errors and performs OCFB if necessary.
