Abc Hours audio and flashcards, Time related situations audio and flashcards

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of clock, time and numbers in the context of time

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of time

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Talk with the students about times where they've been late or early to an event

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Ask the students if they know how to read the clock, the times of the day

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

To begin, play the audio from lesson 1, unit 5 where they'll be introduced to time and how to tell the time, using both the audio and flashcards. After that, review pronunciation with them to practice. Lastly, using another audio and flashcards, talk with them about time related situations (Being late, being on time, being early)

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Using the reading from Unit 5 Extension, ask the students to correct mistakes in sentences related to time

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ask them to create a conversation in pairs where they review times and time related situations
