Description

In this lesson Ss practice with holiday lexis for fluency. This is in the context of their favorite holiday. Ss will also read and listen to a text describing the teacher's favorite holiday. Ss will then ask the teacher the questions and proceed to PW where ss describe their own favorite holiday. SS will ask each other the questions and will make up their partner's story in the class.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students look at the pictures and slide 1,2,3 and guess the topic. I ask students for any words they can think of related to going on holiday. I will write down all their input on the whiteboard or PPT.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Students will listen to the teacher's story and then they will comment on the information they remember from the story. The audio in padlet with the title The teacher's favorite holiday. The audio is played only once. I present the questions and vocabulary to use.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will scaffold using the slides the vocabulary and questions to use in the speaking activities. In Padlet ss can see the 9 questions. Students then practice new vocabulary and questions. I will use Scaffolding for all lexis and grammar.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

SS will listen for a second time to the teacher's favorite holiday story, Then they will work in pairs telling their own favorite story by looking at the 9 questions to build the story from. They will take turns. I will elicit participation from one or two ss to describe their partner's story.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I will use the PowerPoint presentation to highlight the information to practice with ss. I will drill any needed lexis or grammar in the context of the story.
