Description

In this lesson , students will learn basic structure of the sentence and the word order of simple and complex sentences to be used correctly in writing.

Materials

Abc Gap-fill handouts and word order worksheets

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of word order in the context of Natural Disasters

Subsidiary Aims

  • To use the point of grammar learned in writing correct sentences .

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (7-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher can ask students one main question: What are main problems you face when you write a paragraph? the teacher elicits answers which will be the staring point for overcoming these problems.

Test 1 stage: (8-20 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

The teacher gives students handouts for word order activity. They work in pairs and check after they finish. Teacher check answers giving feedback.

Teach stage: (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

The teacher starts to present the area of language that needs focus as a result of the first stage. Free practice (15-25 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The teacher asks students to form sentences answering the question: Write a paragraph about natural disasters around the world. They work in groups . The teacher monitor their work
