Description

In this lesson, the students will draw from what they learned from Charell's story. They will write a letter to their future selves.

Materials

Abc Handout

Main Aims

  • To provide process and product writing practice of a letter in the context of writing a letter to my future self.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of future words/self refliction in the context of writing a letter to my future self.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. Show the students an example of letter written to future self. 2. Ask the students to take a minute to read the letter. 3. Have a quick discussion about the persons future goals, hopes and dreams.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

At this stage, I will introduce the students to the primary key points they need to write about as follows: 1. Family 2. Friends 3. Health 4. Career 5. Finance & Money They will get back to the letter in the warm-up stage and read each one of these elements for gist.

Useful Language (5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

This tense formed by Subject + Past(V2) + Object Past Simple This tense is formed by have/has + the past participle. Present Perfect This tense is formed by Subject + Verb (present tense) . Present Simple This tense is formed by Subject + to be + base + ing. Present Continues The above are the tenses that the students will most luckily be using when writing a letter to their future self.

Productive Task(s) (20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

The students will start writing the letter.

Feedback and Error Correction (20 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

1. This stage begins with the writing and ends when they finish. 2. I will mingle around and provide immediate correction on the language. 3. I will also provide feedback on accuracy and writing skills.

Sending the letter (10 minutes) • To provide a real life experience
