Main Aims

  • To provide fluency in speaking via the practice of functional language in the context of a business interview

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide listening for gist practice.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher will show a picture of a group of people sitting waiting for an interview and will elicit responses to the following questions: What do you think they are doing here? (Waiting for their turn at an interview) Do you think they look nervous? (yes) Who do you think will get the job? (they choose one) Would you like to be one of them? (yes/no) why?

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T. will show Ss a video of a man at an interview to provide a model of production.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T will share a Jamboard link to allow Ss to go to BORs in teams to complete two exercises on Meaning and Form of language they will be reproducing in the role-play activity.

Productive Task(s) (6-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T will provide the link to the Google Forms exercise designed to provide practice of their productive skills. They will be sent ot BORs where they will complete the multiple choice exercise in teams

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Ss will be asked to return to BORs to role-play a business interview in pairs. They are to then return to share (those who should want to) one or two interviews depending on the time. T. will monitor them while they are in their interviews to look out for potential errors that can be looked at in the DEC
