Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of Present Perfect in the context of Books and Movies

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Books and Movies

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In the beginning of the class I'm going to show them some pictures about some books and movies and they will talk about these pictures, so I'm going to make them engage to the topic with motivating them to talk about their interests about movies and books

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Now in this part we are going to have a discussion about our last movies that we saw or the last books that we read. This discussion will help them to review the grammar Simple Past so I can teach them Present Perfect in the base of their knowledge about Simple Past.

Highlighting (4-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

After some Engagements now it's time to draw their attentions to the new grammar with showing them a conversation about movies. In that conversation there are some sentences that Present Perfect was used in them. I will put them into some groups so they will practice the conversation and they will have some guesses about Present Perfect.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

One of the most important stages is this one which I'm going to tell them the meaning of Present Perfect and the difference between Simple Past and Present Perfect. I won't forget the CCQs of course which help me to understand whether the SS learned the grammar or not. After that we are going to talk about some different forms of Present Perfect. In this time the most important thing is that I have to teach them past participle form of verbs. then I'll let them listen and repeat after me to make sure that they can pronounce it well.

Controlled Practice (2-4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

First things first. Now it's time to check if they can use the grammar in the sentences or not, so I will give them some exercises and the can make sentences by using Present Perfect

Semi-Controlled Practice (4-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

In this step, I will put them into some groups. There is a fun activity which they need to find those classmates that they have sth in common. Now they can use Present Perfect while they are talking.

Free Practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In my idea the most important part is this part which the SS can talk about their own lives with using Present Perfect by answering some general questions.
