Description

In this lesson, Lucía practises speaking in the context of ordering food at a café. The lesson starts with some Suggestopedias techniques based on music. This is followed by a detailed listening activity where Lucía answers T/F questions. Finally, there is FP throughout a role play with functional language and vocabulary practice

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a role play in the context of ordering food at a café

  • To provide review and clarification of lexis related with food and restaurants in the context of ordering food at a café

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- We will take off our shoes and listen to music

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

- Listening to slow music, T will dictate some words from the previous lesson and Lucía will draw them on whiteboard.fi This will help T to rectify Lucía remembers and understands the M of this lexis - Without music Lucía will match some words to pictures (new voc) before listening task 1 - Listening task 1: listening for detail, multiple-choice

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

- Listening task 2: reordering questions from the listening (FL) - MFP

Productive Task(s) (10-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

- T and Ss practise through a role play activity in which they take turns to be customer and waitress

Feedback and Error Correction (0-0 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

- Correction on spot through reformulation. - CCQ's at the end of the lesson
