Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of Causatives : have/something done - get somebody to do something in the context of Household jobs

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide process writing practice of a some sentences in the context of household jobs and self-care routine

Procedure

Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T displays images and asks "What is the most boring household job for you?" T demos. T shares a google form. SS choose the right answer for them. T displays the results. T asks couple of students why do they think that job particularly boring.

Clarification (12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1- T asks: How often do you got to hairdresser? Do you cut your hair by yourself? What are the other ways to express this (someone else cutting our hair) Students discuss T writes SS's answers on the board T explicits T displays the form. 2- T displays 3 examples. Students show which parts are the constant, which part are the variant. Students to write the formula/pattern T displays the correct formula. 3. T displays the form with some blanks, asks SS to fill in the blanks.

Controlled Practice (8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T ask students to fill in the blanks with the correct form of have or get and the correct form of the verb. SS work individually. SS work in pairs to check their answers. T run OCFB. T displays the correct answers.

Free Practice (10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T displays two examples of the TL in a conversation. Two SS read the conversation. T asks students to type three sentences (on shared google doc ) by using the TL 1-by myself 2-have/get something done 3-get someone to do something T demos. SS work individually for the task.

Feed Back (10 minutes) • To provide learners with feedback on the completion of the task

T displays SS's production of the TL. Pair check : SS correct each other's sentences on google doc. Each student use a different color to rewrite the sentences if it is necessary OCFB: T nominates SS's to read the sentences one by one T ask if they see any mistake or the sentence is correct T corrects the mistakes made by students.
