Description

In this lesson, students will recycle vocabulary about different sports and activities they do in their free time. They will learn new expressions to recommend and give their personal opinions about them. During the lesson, we will use different speaking tasks to reinforce what was learned in the first portion of the lesson.

Procedure

Lead in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. T will show 3 pictures of different activities, yoga, diving, and running, and will ask them, "What is today's class about?" 2. T will send them to breakout rooms and have them discuss and come back to class and share their thoughts. 3.

Content Preparation (5-8 minutes) • To provide practice of recycled language

1. T will prepare a google form with various lexis to describe activities a. Novice b. Challenging c. Exciting d. Successful e. Tiring f. Expert 2. Ss will go to Breakout Rooms to discuss which sports or activities they enjoy doing and how they would describe them.

Language Preparation (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of making recommendations and giving personal opinions.

1.T will create two categories on a jamboard ; Recommendations Personal Opinions There they will have to match which ones are personal opinions and which are recommendations. Then, All of the Forms will be color-coded. Recommendations I'd recommend this experience... The activity I'd like to recommend may seem.. Personal Opinions I'm (not) the kind of person who likes... It's one of the best/most challenging experiences I've ever had. superlative + present perfect + ever Afterwards, we will look at intonation with the following sentences; It’s one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had. I’d recommend this experience to all my friends. There will be arrows on the slide to see the intonation. Then T will practice with a few students. 2. All of the previous information will be on a jamboard for Ss in groups in Breakout rooms to match on the screen. 2-3 minutes 3. Ss will return to the main session

Speaking Task (12-17 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. T will separate Ss into groups and send them to breakout rooms. T will provide a slide with the words Pro's & Con's and some images of different activities. T will send Ss to breakout rooms where they will discuss the pros and cons of their chosen activity. 5 minutes. 2. Then Ss will come back to the main session and then T will change partners and send them back to breakout rooms. There they will use the key expressions to give their personal opinion and make recommendations to their classmate. 7 minutes

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T will listen to Ss in breakout rooms and listen for corrections and add them to the jamboard. T will have a slide with the form and the key expressions, and Ss will have to match them.
