Students look at the lady on the page 4 of the course book Inside Out. Teacher tells her name. They listen to the record to find out the name she doesn't like. Then they listen to the record again to match the people with the names that they call her Susan in the second exercise. Teacher checks the answers after the activity. They tell different names that people call them.
Teacher writes some family member names and draws a family tree on the board and encourages them to ask yes-no questions to guess how they are related. e.g. Is Fatih your brother? Is Erme your husband? If the answer is yes, the student comes and writes the name in the correct place on the board.
In pairs, students write their own family members names under each heading in the lexis activity on the page. They discuss which they like best or are typical or unusual.
Teacher does the final pronunciation activity.
