I will show a picture of a birthday party and elicit the following 1. what can you see? (birthday / party) 2. Are the people happy? yes 3. Do you like parties like this? yes 4. When is your birthday?

Exposure (6-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will give them the text in word handout they will read it for gist I will provide questions in google forms about the text {Choose the correct answer} in 3 mins 1. Granddad was from ----- a) London b) Liverpool Students answer then pair check in the chat in 2 mins then I will send the answers in the chat to check by themselves later

Highlighting (3-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In pairs, read the text with your partner and underline the sentences which have was and were in 3 minutes in the breakout rooms for example (It was my thirteenth birthday yesterday) ICQs (are you going to work in pairs? yes / are you going to underline sentences with was and were? yes) then OCFB on my screen do you have the same answers?

Clarification (9-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language
