Description

In this lesson, the students will learn vocabulary along with listening and speaking. It will start with a simple call and response accompanied by visual aids and HO, moving along to pair work. The bulk of the exercise will be a couple of listening exercises ending with some group work which will be the class' own personal preferences.

Abc picture handout

Main Aims

  • To provide speaking practice of websites and email addresses

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of listening for gist & specific detail

Procedure

Warm up (2-3 minutes) • Quick introduction for schemata

All the students stand in a circle One person starts and says 'My name is ???? and i use(?website name?)', then they point and swap positions with someone of their chosing

Lead in (1-2 minutes) • Internet Preparation

T will write on the WB is a picture of facebook with the website underneath and a picture of homer simpson with his email address underneath. T-S feedback (ellicit)

Vocabulary 1 (4-6 minutes) • Speaking repitition

Recording of someone stating webistes and email adress. Ss repeat

Vocabulary 2 (1-2 minutes) • Accustomisation

T will show pictures of common URL symbols and the S will say its name together

Vocabulary 3 (4-6 minutes) • Pairwork

T hands out envelopes containing email addresses/webites. Split Ss in to As and Bs for pairwork As read their emails/webites and Bs write them down. Vice versa

Listening lead in (1-2 minutes) • Picture names

T references to pictures A, B, and C in the envelopes WC name venues in pictures together

Listening Gist (5-6 minutes) • To listen out for key words associated with subject

Listen to 2 recordings and match the correct picture to theconversation

Listening for Specific Information (8-10 minutes) • to provide students with more challenging detailed listening

Listen to hotel booking T asks where is the venue? Ss in pairs, then feedback with whole class Repear recording, then feedback again Do the same with hospital emergency call

Speaking (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with related speaking practise

T writes on the WB: 1.Do you often stay in hotels? Why? Why not? 2. Have you been in a hospital| Why? Ss discuss in groups and feedback each others' to class afterwards
