Main Aims

  • To provide practice of language used for asking for advice - giving advice in the context of "learning languages abroad"

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about finding a language school abroad

Procedure

Lead-in (3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T plays an audio T asks students what was the conversation about T ask students "What did the woman ask for ?" T elicits from the students

Text work (5 minutes) • to improve students reading sub- skills

T asks students "In which sentence does Stefan ask for an advice?" SS read the text SS write their answers on the chat box. T runs OCFB T asks specific questions T displays new text on the screen SS read the text indivudualy SS note their answers T runs OCFB

MFP(A) (8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language by covering the MFPA

T displays the some examples from the text Students writes the form T elicits for stress and intonation 
T runs choral drill. T asks students about appropriacy. T elicits ideas from the students

Controlled Practice (8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T displays the task role-play 
T demos. T encourages students to use the TL. SS works in pairs in BOR. SS switches the roles.

Free Practice (11 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T displays the task 
T demos 
T gives sometime to students to write some advice down. T collects students production for the next stage.

DEC (10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T takes notes from SS production. 
T writes some common mistakes on the board. 
T asks SS to correct the forms/sentences/pronunciation 
SS discuss about the answers. 
T displays the correct form
