Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss. will look at a picture of a man and woman are talking I will ask these questions 1. What can you see? A man and woman 2. What are they doing? They are talking 3. What are they talking about? They are talking about expected answers (shopping / work / sports / clean the car / all of the day / during the week / activities)

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Here I will let Ss. listen for gist to know the main idea of the text for the first time in Google forms I will put these questions 1. Tim had a terrible weekend. (True) 2. Emily did the washing on Saturday. (True ) 3. She went to the theatre. (False) 4. She didn’t like the film. (False) Then pair check then OCFB To get the target language they will listen to the task for another time I will put these questions on google forms 2. Listen carefully, then choose the correct answer 1. I was ill all weekend. (Oh, dear.) 2. I had a really bad cold. (What a shame.) 3. I stayed at home on Saturday. (Oh, right.) 4. And then on Sunday, I went to the cinema. (Oh, nice.) 5. It was called A day in the Life. (Oh, yes.) 6. It was great. I really enjoyed it. (Yeah.) Then pair check then OCFB

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

in this stage I will give the S this task in order to highlight the Functional Target Language It will be a table that has the cases of the language use and boxes with the follow up questions {move the Follow-up Question to it’s suitable place Questions you can ask someone who... } 1. was ill at the weekend {Are you OK now? / What was wrong?} 2. stayed at home {What did you do?} 3. went to the cinema {Who did go with you? / What did you see?} OCFB

Clarification (8-9 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

*I will clarify the target language starting with the MEANING. I will use the Jamboard handout (for 2 minutes) they will work individually, pairs then whole class the task is the following : Move the phrases from the blocks to their columns this task is taken from face to face Elementary Student book page 45 Exe. 4(b) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **To teach them FORM, I will let them break the form down by giving them a question, model the way of doing this and let them send me the answers in the chat box then OCFB. (for 3 minutes) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ***The final part is PRONUNCIATION (for 2 minutes). I will lead them to the stressed words and the intonation of showing interest and follow up questions as well. I will drill them individually and chorally then move to the controlled practice.

Free Practice (15-17 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students write notes about the activities they did as the given example, according to time expression such as {last week / weekend / yesterday / before you come to class / on Friday evening} then the activities they can come up with and write showing interest and follow up questions then they talk in pairs then the teacher gives OCFB
