Intentions and Wishes
Pre-Intermediate level

Description

This lesson uses Text-Based to contrast intentions and wishes to students. After the Lead-In, learners will review the grammar of going to, planning to, would like, and would rather and practice the newly learned lexis in breakout rooms. After that, they will have a controlled practice in the main session then have a freer practice in breakout rooms. Then we will review and have feedback in the main session.

Procedure

Lead in (7-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. T will ask if SS if they have enough free time and what they do in theirs. 2. T will give them a google form task to choose with statements apply to them while they are in pairs in the breakout room. 3. SS will come back to the main session and there we will discuss their answers. 4. There we will review what is a livewire and couch potato and they will decide which one they are and which ones their peers are.

Clarification (7-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of intentions and wishes, going to, planning to, would like and would rather.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide practice of the target language

T will show a slide that says resolutions 2021, There students will make sure they understand the meaning There will be two columns on the screen and they must connect both columns with the correct answers, a picture will appear to ensure they understand the meaning. Freer Practice (6-9 minutes) • To provide SS freer practice of target language

T will show questions on the slide that they will discuss in breakout rooms. There will they be able to freely practice all of the language acquired in the class. T will monitor them.

Feedback and DEC (4-5 minutes) • To provide clarification of everything learned.

T will show sentences on the screen and studens will say if they are true or false. If they are false they must provide a correct sentence. OCFB
