*Learning outcomes: At the end of the lesson students will be able to : • Speak about their favourite celebrity. • Ask and answer effectively. • Improve their communicative skills. • Construct a dialogue with their peers. • Identify and use appropriate intonation and stress.

Main Aims

  • *To train students speak fluently and interactively in daily life conversations and develop their speaking productive skills.

Subsidiary Aims

  • *to give students practice of language items (vocabulary, grammar functions(past tense)).

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

*The teacher writes on the board “Guess who?” As warmer activity to activate students’ schema, telling students “we will play a guessing game”. *Activity 1: *The teacher then handout a flashcard for each student, with an information on each, then each student will say out loud the information he/she gets until they reach the answer “Mohammed Salah” (pic 1) Then the teacher shows students his picture. “He is very popular player” “He is Egyptian” “He Plays forward for Liverpool Premier League Club” “He was voted BBC African Footballer of the Year for 2017.” “He is the Egyptian first player to join Chelsea” “In 2012, Confederation African Football (CAF) awarded Salah as the most promising African Talent” “He took part in Africa U-20 Cup of Nations where he won a bronze medal” “He was invited to join Swiss Football Club,” “He is one of the fastest football players as for the 2013-2014 season Premier League statistics with an average top speed of 20.7 kilometer-per-hour” “He is nicknamed The Egyptian king by the Liverpool supporters”.

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

• Pre - speaking • The teacher pre teaches some vocabulary may be needed in the activity (Athlete, champion league, medal, award, race, match, competition). *The teacher explains grammar points needed for their tasks: past simple regular verbs. (Subject+verb+verb(-d/-ed/ied) *present simple: Subject(He/she/it) + verb (-s/es/ies) / Subject( I/you/we/they)+v.infinitive

Useful Language (6-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Activity1: Role plays *The teacher divides students into pairs and asks them to prepare an interview of at least 5 questions about a famous athlete of their choice *The teacher gives instructions to students that they will preform a role play activity where a student will be the interviewer and the other will be the interviewee, whom will choose an athlete and talk about. • The teacher gives students some examples as a guide for them. • “who is your favourite athlete?” • “why is he/she famous for?” • “Why do you think he /she is special/gifted?” • “Did he/she win anything before?” •The teacher gives them 10 minutes to prepare and then do the role play in class. *Aim: To give an oral fluency practice in speaking. *Mode of interaction: T-S when giving instructions S-S during pair work in preparation and role play. *

Productive Task(s) (16-18 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

*Activity 2: Video Narration: *The teacher plays a video (Video1) for the students and asks them if they know this movie “The incredibles” And they discuss with the teacher: “What is the genre of this movie?” “what do you know about the characters?” “who is your favourite character?” “If you have a choice to choose one super power, what would it be? and why?” • Then the teacher gives instructions about the task and asks students to take notes as they will narrate the video stating what happened in it and comment on it after watching. *Aim: to give oral practice in language, vocabulary and grammar. *Mode of interaction: T-S where the teacher is the organizer. S where they will speak

Follow up, Feedback and Error Correction (6-7 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

• As a follow up the teacher asks students to record a video of 2 minutes of themselves talking about any catchy news from a newspaper, magazine…etc, to be played next time in class. Feedback: The teacher models each students' video narration with the correct answer without over correcting the errors
