In this lesson,students learn about amazing achievements they admire based on a listening text.The lesson will start with a listening part followed by a True/False activity.After that there is a discussion about the topic and feedback .

Main Aims

  • To introduce and provide practice of speaking for fluency in the context of achievements.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give the student a chance to differentiate between past simple and present perfect.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will tell Ss they are going to listen to five people talking about amazing achievements they admire.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

The T will share Google Form.Give Ss time to read statements 1-5 .T will tell Ss to listen individually and answer T/F.Then T will conduct feedback. 1.Speaker 1 thinks that the thing which made a difference to us is using the sun.(False) 2..According to speaker 2,recently the most important development in technology is the Internet.( True) 3.Steve Redgrave has won five silver medals.(False) 4.The amazing achievement for Speaker 4 is the construction of Stonehenge.(True) 5.Speaker 3 has heard that the most outstanding leader was Gandhi,Mahatma Gandhi.(True)

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1.T will share Google Form with Ss.Ask them to choose the correct form of expressions ,and submit answers.T will share PDF of the audio script if it's uploaded or the screen of correct answers.Ask Ss to look and confirm answers. 2.T share Jamboard with Ss.Focus students on the expressions .Use the example to show that we use( more+adj) and (adh +er ) to compare or (the most+adj) with superlatives. 1.c 2.e 3.f 4.d 5.b 6.a 7.g 3.T will share Jamboard to cover the pronunciation of some words.Ask Ss to choose the right option.Model the weak and stress form.T asks to repeat individually . FB.Elicit correct answers: 1.a 2. b

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T will ask Ss to think about an amazing achievement they really admire ,can tell other Ss using one of the ideas discussed in the lesson or their own.Ss work on their own and make notes about the topic.Using useful language section. Ss can discuss and share in BORs.T will allow Ss to talk about the topic and compare ideas at least twice (3 times if time allows with different peers.Monitor ,take notes on good use of useful expressions and ask if they agree with what others say. Ss decide the most interesting /amazing achievement they admire . Task Instructions; a.Work on your own .You are going to tell other students about achievement you find amazing. It can be about the ideas in the previous stages or someone you know personally. Then make notes about (name,date,the impact that it has had/why you find it so interesting/admirable. -You can use these words/phrases: -----has completely changed our lives. One of the things I always find amazing is----------- As a result of this------------ Just imagine life if------------- It's incredible to think that-------------- -Talking about the achievement of a particular person: His/Her achievements have really changed the world because------------- I really admire the way he/she -------------- etc.
