Main Aims

  • To provide gist, scan and detailed reading practice using a text about achievements in the context of unusual acievement

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of accomplishment words in the context of unusual achievement

Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students and energize the Ss.

I am going to show them photos of the people who have made unusual achievements and make them try to guess what they have achieved. first, I will give them a chance to think individually then pair check then whole class feedback.

Pre-Reading (3-4 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible. and to help them not to struggle with difficult vocab. try to reduce my talking time.

there are 3 vocab that I am going to teach so 1- I am going to elicit from them the meaning by asking CCQs that I have already scripted (M\E\C). 2- drilling. (P\D) 3 - show them the form and write the on the board.

While-Reading (3-4 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks. to make them feel familiar with the context.

I will ask them to read the articles and try to just mention what is the achievement of each person so I am going to 1 - give them the instruction 2- demonstrate for them. 3- make them discuss in pairs. 4- monitor them. 5- whole class feedback.

While-Reading #2 scan reading (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks and debate it.

now for the scan reading, I will ask them to read the articles again but this time to read it carefully and choose from q3 what fits from each article so 1- I will give them the instruction. 2- demonstrate with them. 3- make them choose individually then pair check. 4- monitor. 5- whole class feedback

Post-Reading ( freer activity) (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned. and try to use the vocab that they have got.

1- make them answer the freer activity. 2- demonstrate with them. 3- split them into 2 groups. 4- monitor them. 5- whole class feedback and error correction.
