Description

In this lesson, ss will practice speaking in a job interview and learn some functional language for the situations.

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show slide No1 ask the Ss what they see in the picture. Elicit "Job İnterview". Ask them if they have any interview experiences and how they feel about interviews.

Exposure (2-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Listen for gist. Answer the 2 questions on slide 2.

Useful Language (8-12 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

During slides 4 -5- 6 have them work on some certain question types in job interviews and their possible answers. On slide 4, ask learners to use the cards to make questions in their groups. Drill the questions with them. Put them in pairs this time for slide 5. And ask them to complete and answer the questions with each other. Get WC feedback. Follow the same procedure on slide 6.

Productive Task(s) (18-23 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Give the instructions for slides 7, 8, 9. Put them in pairs. Give enough time so that they can both play the interviewee. Monitor when they try to role play, make notes for delayed error correction. When they come back to the main session ask them some content-based questions like "Who got the job? Who was the most difficult interviewer to pass? etc"

Feedback and Error Correction (2-4 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Write 2-3 of the errors you hear when monitoring. Ask them to correct those mistakes together.
