Demonstration of a full teaching of a Receptive Skill based on ESL.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To understand the story and reproduce a new one based on the sample

Subsidiary Aims

  • Teaching vocabulary and structures of the text and activating them

Procedure

Engagement (5-8 minutes) • To get the students ready for reading the text and giving them a sense of the general story.

-The teacher pairs up the students and asks them to describe and guess the story in pairs using the photos and the title of the story (2 min) - The teacher gets some random feedback from different students (2min)

Study (20-25 minutes) • To read the text and understand the concept and details of the text

The teacher focuses on the pictures, eliciting and unblocking the blocking words ( grasshopper, corn) (5 min) - The teacher tells the students to read the text and find the answer of the GFQ (5 Min) - GFQ: What is the main massage of story? What does it want to say? - The teachers pairs the students up in order to share the answer of the question and then gets random feedback (5 min) - The teacher tell the students to read the text once more and answer the DFQs (5 min) - DFQs are available in part 4 - The teacher checks the answers in an open class activity ( 2 min)

Activation (25-30 minutes) • To get the students use the learned language.

CP: The teacher ask students to find the words in number 3 and underline them and guess their meaning . ( 4 min) - ICQ : Are you going to answer question 4?No. Do you just find them or guess the meaning? Both. Do you do this alone? Yes - The teacher asks students to find the meaning of them in pairs on Workbook page 136 (5 min) ICQ : Where can you find the answers? Workbook Do you do it alone? No. -Semi : Whisper game: Teacher divide the class to the boys and girls and Ask them to stand on two lines. Last student should choose one sentence of grasshopper or ant and whisper to the another student and that student to other one and first student should write that sentence on board. The Time who finish sonner and write correct sentence is winner and they should do it for 2 sentences. (6 min) -ICQ: Who chooses the sentences? Last one. Who writes the sentences? First one. How many sentences? 2 Which group is ant? Boys - Freer: role-play: Teacher pairs up the students and say to one of them be the person who don't care about future and otherone be the person who is always is worry about future and get each other some advice like the story and use vacabs and grammer. (6 min) -ICQ: who are the careful guys? Do you give advice? Yes. Who are the careless? -Teacher Ask one student from each groups and tell them to play in front of the class and get some feedback. (5min)
