Description

In this lesson, the students will get experience writing by completing multiple writing exercises and finally writing a short paragraph about their hobbies.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide process writing practice of a paragraph in the context of hobbies

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about hobbies in the context of my hobbies.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- I will discuss hobbies and then lead into my hobbies. - I will introduce ss to the topic of the lesson by having them match pictures of my hobbies to the pictures. - I will have the ss tell me in open class which answer they believe is correct. - I will give OCFB to the ss.

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

- I will have ss read the statements I made about my hobbies. - T will introduce ss to their shared google slides page. - I will have ss write a list of their hobbies on google slides. - I will have the ss tell me about their hobbies in open class. - I will give OCFB as necessary.

Useful Language (7-11 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

- T will introduce CCQ's to ss on google slides. 1. I enjoy hiking in the desert because it is fun to see the different plants, mountains, and animals. Do I like to hike? (yes) Do I like the desert? (yes) 2. I’m interested in listening to music because it is relaxing. Do I listen to music? (yes) Does it make me feel bored? (no) 3. I have fun watching sports because they are exciting. Do I dislike watching sports? (no) Is this saying I enjoy watching sports? (yes) - T will have ss read and write down their answers on google slides. - T will have ss choose which words are noun, verb, adjective and prepositions. - T will read the pronunciation and have the ss choose the right pronunciation. - T will conduct OCFB as necessary.

Productive Task(s) (16-18 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

- T will have ss read short paragraph on google slides. - T will have ss write a short paragraph about their hobbies on google slides. - T will have ss read their paragraphs to the class. - T will conduct OCFB.

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

- T will give DEC. - T will give ss several examples of errors and have them tell me which ones are wrong.
