Intermediate G2 level


In this lesson Students will learn new vocabulary (get up early-brush my teeth-drive a car-have a lesson-take the bus-walk to school). They will listen and repeat the vocabulary. Students will be able to form sentences using the new words. They will watch the video then I'll ask them questions about it. They will read the lesson , after that answer the exercises in the book.

Main Aims

  • To identify the vocabulary. To practice the new words.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice the vocabulary (get up early-walk to school-brush my teeth-drive a car-have a lesson) and the present simple.To form questions and answers. Do you go to school by bus? No, I don't. I usually walk to school.


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask students some questions related to the lesson to activate schemata How do you go to school? Do you go to school by bus? Do you have Math lessons every day? Do you brush your teeth in the morning?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ask students to look at the pictures and describe them. Tell them to watch the video and concentrate. I'll play the video again then pause and ask questions.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ask students to listen and repeat the vocabulary.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I'll play the CD again then I'll ask the students one by one to read the vocabulary. I'll show them the flash cards and let them say its name. They will look and listen to the lesson after that I will ask them to read in pairs.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Read the text again then answer exercise one Brad or Mark 1-He always brushes his teeth. ...................... 2-He doesn't take the bus to school. ...................... 3-He sometimes rides his bike to school. ................ 4-He never gets up early at the weekend. ..........................

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

I'll choose some students to come to the board and answer. Exercise 2 Read and Circle 1- (Do - Does ) Mary ride her bike? yes, she (do-does). 2-(Do-Does) they always brush their teeth? Yes, they (do - does). 3-(Do-Does) you drive to school? No, I (don't-doesn't)

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students are going to work in pairs to ask and answer. They will use the vocabulary they have already learnt Examples: A:Do you go to school on Friday? B:No, I don't.
