Description

In this lesson students are going to talk about their daily routine. I will explain that we use the present simple to talk about something habit or fact . I'll explain the form then I'll show them pictures and ask them to form sentences using the present simple. After that I'll play a video and I'll ask them to write down the sentences they heard in the present simple.Finally they are going to answer the worksheet.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To identify the present simple and to know when and how to use it.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice the new words and to form sentences by using the vocabulary and the present simple.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask students what do you do everyday in the morning? What do you do at the weekend? What do you do in summer?

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Explain that what we do everyday or from time to time is called habit or routine. Explain that we use the present simple to talk about something fact. Example I'm a teacher,I work at school. Explain that we use the present simple to talk about routine or habits.Example We brush our teeth everyday. He goes to school by bus.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Explain the form He s she loves es it ies Explain when to put s , es , ies .ask students to tell me some verbs. I write them on the board and start to add the s or es or ies. Explain that We s They don't love es You I ies Ask students to put the verbs in the correct form

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I'll write some sentences on the board , I'll choose random students to come and write the correct form of the verb. Examples: 1-She ........................(watch) T.V everyday. 2-My friends .......................(like) pizza. 3-My father ......................(play) football on friday. before answering I'll ask the students to write the personal pronoun and to underline the keywords to make sure that they understood the lesson.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

I'll let the students watch a video. I'll tell them to listen , concentrate and to write down the sentences they heard in the present simple.After that I will choose some students to say what they wrote.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will write some questions on some pieces of paper and cut them. Then I'll ask each pair of students to come and choose one paper and his peer is going to answer the question.
