In this lesson: Ss will learn about "Purpose, cause and result". In the context of a story about a man who was imposter.

Main Aims

• By the end of the lesson, the students will have learned the use of "So, to and because" in the context of "Cause, purpose and result"

Subsidiary Aims

To provide accuracy speaking practice in a using "so, to or because" when discussing about Ferdinand Delmara.

Procedure (43-55 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The lead-in will be a video about the great imposter. Then T will elicit from ss the different professionals Demara imposed.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T will show the ss 6 statements, where TL are underlined. The wrong clauses are used, so the ss will have to re do it. Then T will go through when and how we use "cause, result and purpose" and give som examples.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will use guided discovery to clarify MFP. The teacher will ask the students to underline the words that they are not sure of their place.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In the controlled practice, ss will have to fill in gaps

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

The students will fill in the gaps, but there are several ways to answer and not one correct answer.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Divide the ss into to groups, they are going to discuss if Demara is a hero or villain and they have to justify their answers.
