Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of language used for shopping or buying an item in the context of travel.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of language used for asking questions in the context of shopping.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T will introduce the topic of traveling and talk about Karen's trip to London. - T will familiarize ss with the different topics by showing ss different pictures as examples. - T will ask the ss to rank in order what they think are the most important items for traveling. - T will conduct OCFB

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

- T will have ss read story for gist. - T will have ss answer questions. - T will have ss give answers in open class. - T will conduct OCFB

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

- T will have ss write the target words in the chat box. - T will conduct OCFB as needed.

Clarification (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

MEANING - T will ask CCQ's on jamboard for learners to identify the meaning of target words. Example: Have you got any guidebooks for London? CCQ: Does she want to know if the store has guidebooks? CCQ: Does it atter what guidebook it is? CCQ: Does she want the one for London? Example: Do you sell suitcases? CCQ: Is she asking about a suitcase? CCQ: Does she want to know if they have a suitcase? CCQ: Does she want to know if the suitcases are for sale? Controlled Practice (8-9 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- T will have ss take turns as the worker and Karen. - T will give example how to take turns asking questions with ss. - The ss will use the functional phrases to talk with each other.in break out rooms. - T will give feedback and DEC.
