Description

In this lesson, students learn how to introduce themselves, greet each other and introduce each other. The lesson has various activities, including pair and group conversations.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy practice for the students by giving them a chance and courage to speak and introduce themselves in the class and they also learn how to be polite and greet others.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of new vocabs with the context of introduction and greeting

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

We get the students ' greeting into the subject by eliciting different types. And then asking them to look at the pictures of the worksheet provided to see if their guesses fit there.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Both co-teacher provides examples of accurate introduction in various styles of formal, informal, casual, and complicated to SS through the worksheet provided. The teachers ask the students to roleplay the written conversations.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Teachers elicit and introduce introducing yourself and introducing a friend and the ways to continue a conversation with fluency. The teacher prepares the read lines and ask the students to practice in pairs.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

In this part, students practice in groups in front of the class while the teacher monitors. The Students do the roleplay many times until they can continue the conversation with improvisation.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

In this part, students provide feedback about themselves and each other. In the end, the teachers provide general feedback to the class and some tips for personal improvement.
