Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a when giving opinions and creating a Travel Diary


Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Teacher shows students image on the Google Slides document and ask leading questions: (3 minutes) 1.What do you see the in picture? 2. Describe what you see! 3. What is different about the chocolate? 4. What is different about the cheese? 5. What colour is the Switzerland flag? 6. Does Switzerland look like a hot or cold country? 7. Does the watch look cheap or expensive? -Teacher asks students which one they like the most and why? -Teacher models answer and then code calls students and gives language correction. (2 Minutes) -Teacher asks students if can remember the country name and then asks if they know which continent it is on. (1 Minute)

Exposure (6-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-Teacher displays complex language from the text and provides extra support. -Students match these to the definition. -Teacher selects the students to read the text and supports during this

Controlled Practice (8-9 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-Teacher tells students to complete table in their books for unit 10 lesson 7. Teacher monitors the class while students complete the task. (5 minutes) -Full class feedback: Teacher selects students to provide answers for the task. Teacher confirms. (3 Minutes)

Additional Practice (7-8 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the target language

-The students will complete a 'Travel plan' of Switzerland using the language they have used and learnt during the lesson. (4 minutes) -Teacher will monitor students -Students will take it in turns to read out their travel plan to the rest of the class (4 minutes)
