Main Aims

  • To provide gist, scan and deduction reading practice using a text about special event
  • By the end of the lesson, students will have developed their ability to read for gist and specific information with particular reference to an essay..

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will have developed their writing skills with specific reference to writing about meeting a famous or special person focussing on the sub skills of paragraphing and using appropriate vocabulary.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Have you met a celebrity before? who was that? what about some important events that happened to you in the same day?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Miyu is a schoolgirl in England ; she had a long and special day in her life.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students are asked to read in detail to answer the questions that are about the text. study the text well to choose which is the introduction and which one is the restaurant.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Students have to write about one of the events they have been to or invent one.
