  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of habits and life styles

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T welcomes everyone to the class. -T opens the second slide and shows eight pictures. - T asks Ss to form 'How many/How much' questions with the notes next to the pictures. T asks them to study in pairs. - T sends Ss into breakout rooms. - When Ss come back, T asks a couple of them to share their answers.

Highlighting and Clarification (6-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

- T opens slide three and shows the activity 3 form page 62. -T asks Ss to work by themselves and fill the chart with countable and uncountable words. -T informs students that the words are actually in pairs and while one pair is countable, the other will be uncountable. - T also asks them to write down the words that they could not place anywhere. - After 4 minutes, T share a link from Macmillan Dictionary website and opens the next slide and explains to the students that when there is a noun they can either identify as countable or uncountable, they can use a dictionary entry and find other which one it is. -T asks students to write use the wbsite and complete the task. -After 2 minutes, T asks them to give their answers

Controlled Practice (9-11 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

- T opens slide 5 and shows activity 2 on page 62. - T asks Ss to fill in the gaps using a/an/many/much or nothing by themselves. - After 4 minutes, T nominates Ss for the answers - T opens slide 6 and shows activity 7 on page 63. - T asks Ss to choose the correct quantifier by themselves. - After 3 minutes, T nominates Ss for the answers

Semi-Controlled Practice (6-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

-T opens slide 7 and shows activity 5 on page 62. -T asks Ss to fill in the gaps using a/an/many/much or nothing by themselves. - After 4 minutes, T nominates Ss for the answers.

Free Practice (9-11 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- T opens slide 8 and shows activity 8 on page 63. - T asks Ss to work in groups and fill in the charts according to their habits. - T sends students into breakout rooms in groups of 3 or 4. - After 6 minutes, T brings students back and opens slide 9 activity 9 on page 63. - T asks Ss to make sentences about their groups by looking at their charts and also using the words inside the box.
