Description

In this lesson students learn about basic adjectives and their opposites through word cards and pictures. To match pictures to words followed by exercises about the difference between "before", "after" and "plural". Ending with a listening practice (listen to recording and and true/false excercise.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To introduce & extend the Ss' knowledge of basic adjectives, their opposities, & how to use them in sentences through the context of describing personal possessions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Reading/Listening (you decide how you want to do the task here).

Procedure

Warmer (2-3 minutes) • To engage students and introduce context

T shows students pictures pairs to elicit the adjectives and opposites.

Pictures as opposites (7-10 minutes) • To introduce and practice opposites

T gives students the handouts (words and pictures). In pairs, students need to match the words with the pictures as opposites. Stick pics on the white board and get early - finishers to come to the white board and write the adjective next to the appropriate picture.

Tick the correct sentences and change where needed (8-10 minutes) • Practice Grammar and Adjectives

T asks Ss in pairs to do task 2 together and deal with questions when required.

Make sentences with these words. (8-10 minutes) • Extend of Ss knowledge of vocabulary and grammar.

T checks that Ss understand the meaning of "before", "after" and "plural" and Teacher asks students to work in pairs, choose the correct words (ex 2, page no. 14) and order the sentences (exercise 3-page no. 14).

Reading and Listening (10-12 minutes) • To introduce them to Listening to a recording and Reading a text.

Students listen to a recording and then teacher asks them to read the text again and tell the main gist of the story followed by saying if the sentences in exercise no. 2 on page 10 are true or false?
