Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will provide a photo of my hometown and say "I like my home district Maadi" what do you think about it? is it a big district? do you like to visit it? why?

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

I will give the students a task and I will ask them to categorise the words into three categories e.g. location, adjectives and nouns. First, I will ask the students to do the task individually then they check in pairs. After that I will give feedback to the task.

Teach (12-14 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

In this stage I will pick some difficult words and then I will go through these words or phrases clarifying the meaning, form, and pronunciation. I will follow the procedure of MPF in order to clarify the meaning. At the beginning I will contextualize the first word, elicit the word from the the students, then I ccqs , model the word, write it on the board it, and I will check stressed part the stressed part. Finally, I will elicit the form (part of speech).

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice, I will have students do a task of completing a grid of 12 digits. They will use the clues from a to l in order to finish the task on their workbooks page 25 , Ex 8. I will let them check in pairs then I OPC.

Free practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this stage I will ask students to imagine that a pen-friend from the USA asked them to write a few sentences about Egypt describing it. I will tell them to use the phrases and adjectives they leant from the lesson. I will ask them to display what they have written on the board and I will tick the best ideas. In pairs, I will ask them to tell their partners what they have written about. I will select a few errors to correct in open class.
