Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T asks Ss what they remember about the story in lesson 1 (books closed) -T elicits the names of the characters and writes them on the board -T asks Ss questions about the story 1.Who came to visit? 2.Where did the children go? 3.Who was there? -T asks Ss to open the book p6 and look at the photos and introduces the professor and his robot Chips -T asks Ss what kind of characters they might be? eg: angry, intelligent,funny -T says one sentence and asks Ss to guess who is it. 1.He's tall and thin 2.He's washing the dishes. -T asks Ss to say sentences and guess who is being described

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text

-T plays the recording and asks Ss to listen and follow the words in their books -T asks the gist question -T plays the recording again and asks the comprehension questions 1.What does the professor do? 2.What does Chip do? 3.What did Chip break? -T asks Ss to work in pairs and act out the dialogue

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-T asks Ss to focus on the rule and the example sentences -T asks Ss to find example sentences in the cartoon strip and tell which sentence doesn't appear in the text -T elicits more examples from Ss and lesson one (books closed)

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-T explains the example and asks Ss to read the sentences silently and circle the correct words -T check the answers with the whole class

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

-T asks Ss to focus on three story pictures -T asks two Ss to read the speech bubbles -T asks Ss to take turn and ask and answer questions about the characters in the story , using the prompts in the word pool and being careful to use the correct tense as indicated by the time reference in each picture -T goes through the activity with the class

Free Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-T writes on Thursday evenings, last Saturday, now -T asks Ss to work in pairs and ask answer what do, did, are doing at these times
