Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows Ss the following: This family is older times, they did different things from what we do now. (pic to family in the 1900s) vs (pic of modern family) What are some common things we do today? T shares: for example it is normal for us to cook our food, take a bus or drive a car to work. Do you think people will still do this in 100 years? What do yo think people will still do or not do in 100 years? T asks Ss to discuss the topic in groups for 2 min T pulls Ss back from BORs and has them shares their answers

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T asks Ss to listen to the audio and answer the following questions Individually: Hand out slide will be given where they will fill in the blanks. Listen to some predictions people made about these things 100 years from now. Complete the gaps in each sentence. Do you agree with these predictions? T plays audio while showing the following transcript: A. People definitely won't use a telephone to talk to their friends. B. In another 100 years, people will .........listen to music, just like they do now. C. In 2100, people .........won't have baths - only showers. D. A hundred years from now, people will .........eat pizza! E. By that time, there .........be a new way of listening to music. F. We ......... use the Internet in a completely different way. To replace schools, for example. AK: A. People definitely won't use a telephone to talk to their friends. B. In another 100 years, people will PROBABLY listen to music, just like they do now. C. In 2100, people PROBABLY won't have baths - only showers. D. A hundred years from now, people will DEFINITELY eat pizza! E. By that time, there MAY be a new way of listening to music. F. We MIGHT use the Internet in a completely different way. To replace schools, for example. T asks Ss to compare answers in groups BORs and answer the question: do you agree with the predictions?

AK: Definitely 3. Which means YES? A. We will definitely buy a new car. B. We definitely wont buy a new car. AK: A Which means NO? A. We might go to a restaurant. B. We might not go to a restaurant. AK: B Form: ??? Pronunciation: T models the pronunciation of full sentences then calls Ss to try using the Phonetic visuals and answer where the stress in TL is found: 1. We'll definitely buy a new car. wil / dɛfənətli / baɪ / ə / nu / kɑr. Stress: DE-fi-nite-ly 2. We'll probably buy a new car. wil / prɑbəbli / baɪ / ə / nu / kɑr. Stress: PRO-ba-bly 3. Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T asks Ss to complete the following task individually: Write out the sentences using will or wont: 1. There / be / a woman president of the United States. There will be a woman president of the United States. 2. People / not use / cash / they / only use / credit cards 3. Astronauts / visit / the planet Mars 4. Great Britain / not have / a king or queen 5. The countries of Western Europe / all use / the same currency 6. A terrible bug / destroy / the world’s computers T asks Ss to complete the task individually then check their answers in groups in BORs for 3 min. T pulls Ss from BORs to answer questions.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T asks Ss to complete the following task: Write some predictions of your own about the next ten years, using the ideas in the sentences in the last task. Eg: There probably won't be a woman president in my country in the next 10 years. T asks Ss to compete the task in groups in BORs for 4 - 5 min T pulls Ss back from BORs for conduct feedback and DEC
