Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At this stage, I'm going to have a small talk with th Ss. I'm going to ask about how they feel today and tell something about the weather. Later, I'm going to ask the day and point the finger at the weekend to ask about their weekend plans. So that they will be engaged.

Exposure (2-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

At this stage , I'm going to tell some of the time expressions that are used in future tense and show them a timeline to make it clear "what means "future".

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I'm going to show them a picture of a boy who has question marks in his mind. Then ,I'm going to start explaining "how to choose the right auxiliary verb for a sentence".

Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

At this stage, I'm going to use a PPT . I will be talking and clarifying the meaning and the differences of "will" and "be going to" while showing them some visual forms to make the Ss remember it easily. My aim is to make the students understand the form of these 2 usages through guided discovery.

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I'm going to show the Ss 2 different question sentences need to be completed by them. They will have 2 choices under each question. I will ask them to stand up or sitdown according to their answers. There will be another activity on the board. I have written some sentences using "will" adn "be going to". But some of the usages are wrong. I will ask the students to come to the board and recorrect the sentence if there is a mistake or put a tick is the sentence is correct.

Semi-Controlled Practice (4-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

At this stage, the Ss are going to have a group work. 2 students will have their handouts and try to complete the gap-filling activity together. During this activity, I'll be walking around and check the students.

Free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

At this stage, the students are going to play a game called "what'in my mind?" and have a speaking activity in order to practice the uses of "will" and "be going to" with their friends. There will be some colorful pieces of papers on which I have written some info about the useges of "will" and "be going to". The students will pick one and make a sentences with the info he/she has on the paper. For example: red paper- diecision-go to the beach The student is supposed to make a sentence like "I will go to the beach". They will be free to use any subject they want. But they need to be carefull about their choice of auxiliary verb. And their friend will guess the purpose of sentence. Is he talking about aplan?a decision/a promise?etc...
